Square Enix’s Stay Home & Play campaign raises over $2.4 million for charity

Funds to be distributed to food banks and other charities across North America and Europe

Back in March, amid the disruption caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, we launched our Stay Home & Play initiative.

The goal was two-fold - we wanted to reward and support gamers for being responsible and practicing social distancing and raise money for food banks and other charities across the globe that desperately need support during what are challenging times.

One part of the Stay Home & Play initiative was our Steam bundles, which featured collections of some of our greatest games. A full 100% of Square Enix’s proceeds from these sales - every cent, penny or gil - is being distributed to good causes across North America and Europe.

We’re excited - and humbled - to report that members of the community from all around the world came together and helped raise a total far beyond our expectations. Over the course of the campaign, you’ve helped us raise more than $2.4 million!

The following is a list of the charities that will receive donations directly from Square Enix studios and offices across the West:

Square Enix (London)

Square Enix (Los Angeles)

Crystal Dynamics (Redwood City)

Crystal Dynamics (Bellevue)

Eidos-Montreal, Eidos-Sherbrooke and Square Enix Montreal

Square Enix (Paris)

Square Enix (Hamburg)

In addition to financial support, we’ve also given away some of our best titles for free to help people stay entertained while they remain indoors. Those games include Tomb Raider (2013), Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Lara Croft GO and more - to date, more than 16.4 million have been downloaded.

So really, we just want to say a massive thanks to all of you. We’re proud - and grateful - that we’re able to give back to our communities during this crisis and hopefully help make a difference in people’s lives.

It genuinely means a lot to us - not only as a company, but also as a group of people who live and work all around the world.

These remain challenging times for many, so we ask that you please continue to act responsibly, follow local guidelines, and support both your communities and each other.

And, of course, Stay Home & Play.
