Final Fantasy Explorers Collector’s Edition announced!

By Square Enix Team

It’s been a while since we talked about Final Fantasy Explorers so let’s fix that shall we? We are happy to announce that Final Fantasy Explorers will be getting its very own Collector’s Edition! It was announced on the recent Nintendo Direct which you can watch by clicking here to get the details.

So what exactly is in the Final Fantasy Explorers Collector’s Edition? Well you will get the following:

  • Final Fantasy Explorers (the game)
  • Songs for the Journey – a sample CD that contains 20 tracks from the FF Explorers OST
  • Limited edition artwork box (featuring art from famed FF artist Yoshitaka Amano)
  • FF Explorers Collector’s hard case for your Nintendo 3DS console
  • 40 page Limited edition art book
  • 4 unlockable in game quests for legendary weapons

What you’re probably thinking now is - what are the unlockable in game quests all about? These are my favourite part of the Collector’s Edition. The four quests are unlockable in the game and are completely brand new so they have never been released before, even in Japan. The quests themselves are as long as the regular quests in the game and by completing them, you’ll obtain the ingredients necessary to forge one of the legendary weapons. The weapon you can forge will depend on which quest you finish and the weapons you can create at the end are:

  • Crimson Blitz – from Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
  • Thyrus – from Final Fantasy XIV- Venus Gospel – from Final Fantasy VII
  • Death Penalty – from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

I love the design of the Crimson Blitz. It’s actually one of my favourite swords in the Final Fantasy franchise.

These special quests are exclusive to the Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy Explorers so this also means the only way to get the legendary weapons is to get the Collector’s Edition. They will come in the form of a download code inside the Collector’s Edition which once redeemed and downloaded, gives you access to the new quests. You'll access to the quests in game really early on although you probably won't be strong enough to complete them right away. The weapons themselves are super powerful (they wouldn't be legendary if they weren't) but you'll have to level up your character to a certain level before you'll be able to use them, so they won't unbalance the game or anything.

So there you have it, I hope you like what you see! The Final Fantasy Explorers Collector’s Edition is exclusive to the Square Enix Store and costs £59.99/€69.99/$69.99. You can pre-order it by clicking on the link below:
