It lets you play as one of the game’s two playable characters, explore some impressively expansive locations from ground and air, and get to grips with the thrilling battle system!
While you’re waiting for the demo to download, let us tell you a little more about it - and the game itself.
What can you expect from the demo?
The new demo puts you in control of Raymond Lawrence - young captain of the spacefaring merchant vessel Ydas. This big-haired hero is equally big-hearted though, it must be said, a little reckless at times.
You’ll get to play through an of the start of his story, which sees Raymond crash land on the underdeveloped planet of Aster IV. Separated from his crew and surrounded by threats, he sets out to explore this beautiful fantasy-inspired new world and find his way to return to his ship and his friends.
The demo presents an edited version of this section of the game, that runs from that dramatic opening through to Raymond’s arrival at Delryk Village (please note that progress does not carry over to the full game). In that time, you’ll get plenty of opportunity to play with the game’s coolest features including:

STAR OCEAN THE DIVINE FORCE gives you an unprecedented level of freedom over how you explore the environment. Sure, you could traipse round the wild regions of Aster IV on foot, but surely there’s a better way? In STAR OCEAN THE DIVINE FORCE, you can take to the skies and fly!
The areas you’ll traverse in the game are large and packed with fascinating sights to see awesome secrets to uncover. Whether you’re buzzing buildings or rocketing up the side a rockface to see what’s at the top, the ability to get around in style makes exploration the most fun it’s ever been in a STAR OCEAN game!
Blisteringly quick, exciting combat
Aster IV is a dangerous place, full of enemies who are eager to send Raymond to an early grave. Fortunately, he’s more than up to the challenge!
The combat in STAR OCEAN THE DIVINE FORCE is exhilaratingly fast-paced and action-packed. You’ll use speed, agility and a variety of special abilities to take down large numbers of enemies in record time.
Raymond has lots of tricks up his short sleeves. You can vanish for a brief moment to dodge enemy attacks, take out foes with a single hit and much more! It’s a wonderfully tactile and super-satisfying system that makes fighting an unending joy - as you’ll discover for yourself when you play the demo.
What’s in the full game?
The demo may be generous, but it’s a mere taster compared to the banquet that is the complete game.
The full release features the dual protagonist system, which lets you choose between two very different, but equally awesome characters. The events you experience, the allies you meet and more will change depending on who you play as.
In the demo, you can only take control of Raymond, but the full game also lets you control Laeticia. Not only is she the princess of one of the nations of Aster IV, she’s also a skilled warrior, remarkably adept at using dual blades.
You’ll also be able to explore all the game’s features, including expanded combat options, a richly detailed story, even more environments to fly around in, some absolutely beautiful character art by Akiman and much more!

STAR OCEAN THE DIVINE FORCE launches October 27, 2022, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam.
In addition to the standard addition, you can also get the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the game’s stunning soundtrack, as well as some in-game items, including the Armor pack and Accessory pack.
