PowerWash Simulator out now on Xbox and PC Game Pass
The super-satisfying clean-‘em-up leaves early access with an expanded story, 6-player online co-op, and a host of new things to make spic and span. Here’s some news that will add some sparkle to your day: PowerWash Simulator is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam! What’s more, it’s available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass!
Many of you will already be familiar with the game - it’s won quite the passionate following since debuting in early access last year. But for those of you who’ll be experiencing this one of a kind game for the first time, we’ve put together a little Q&A to tell you everything you need to know about it.
What is PowerWash Simulator?
Armed with an impressive arsenal of high-pressure power washers, you’re tasked with cleaning the filth and grime off a great many objects, in a story with more layers than a very dirty onion.
There are multiple modes to play though, including a lengthy Career Mode and Free Play - plus online co-op for both. Regardless of what you’re doing, you’ll experience a relaxing, stress-free good time that’s just soooooooooooo satisfying.
Ok, I’ll bite: why’s it so satisfying?
It works on multiple levels.
Obviously, there’s an enormous pleasure in returning order to chaos. Taking grim, scum-covered objects and meticulously restoring them to their beautiful original states is fundamentally rewarding.
But it also feels great to play. Tight controls make the act of washing an unending joy - seeing the layers of dirt and grime peel away as you spray them with your powerful water jet offers a continual sense of joy and reward. And when you get that ‘ding’ sound that signifies that you’ve fully cleaned something? Oooh yeah.
Okay, we’re gushing more than one of the Power Washers, but once you play it, you’ll see what we mean. It just works.
So what are we Power Washing?
As a professional Power Washer, you’ll encounter all kinds of cleaning projects, including vans, houses, carousels, subway stations, statues…
We could reveal more, but we’d rather let you discover it all for yourselves - plus we don’t want to give away too many story spoilers.
Speaking of which… what’s the story about?
The game is set in the town of Muckingham, which has become coated in a thick layer of filth. That’s just one of the problems blighting the residents of this once-picturesque place: an ominously active volcano, Bigfoot sightings and the mayor’s missing cat are only adding to the chaos.
Having just started a budding Power Washing company, it falls on you to clean up the town, solve its problems and perhaps even discover how it got in this state in the first place…
The story’s been expanded from the early access version of the game, with new chapters that take the story to some pretty awesome and unexpected places.
Hmm… sounds like a lot of pressure.
Actually it’s only your equipment that’s high-pressure.
By design, the game’s intended to be a chilled-out, relaxing experience. It’s about relieving stress, rather than causing it, so you won’t have to worry about things like strict time-limits and fail states.
It’s just you, your washer, and the inherent thrill of the job.
What if I want to clean things again?
Every job you complete in the story can be returned to in Free Play.
In this mode, there’s no narrative. It’s just you and the hose - a mediative slice of Power Washing joy. While it can be a little galling to see that once-sparkling object despoiled once more, it’s worth it for the satisfaction of doing it all again.
How many friends can I play the game with?
PowerWash Simulator supports online co-op play in both the Career and Free Play modes.
In Career mode, a team of two can play through each stage, supporting each other as you clean up Muckingham and solve its mysteries.
If you want to play with a bigger crew, Free Play lets you clean with a team of up to six players at once on any levels that the host has unlocked.
Whichever mode you choose, expect fun times and positive vibes. It’s just good, clean fun.
How do I get PowerWash Simulator?
The game’s available with Game Pass for PC and console, for purchase on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and on Windows.
The game’s also leaving early access on Steam:
