Expanding the world of FINAL FANTASY VII on mobile
FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER and FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS are coming to mobile devices. Find out all about these new games here. The world of FINAL FANTASY VII is back, and this time, it’s in the palm of your hand. Following the blockbuster release of FINAL FANTASY VII Remake last year, it's the perfect time to continue expanding your gameplay adventures in the timeless world of Midgar and beyond.
Director Tetsuya Nomura is here to bring the feels with the announcement of not one, but TWO exciting new free-to-play mobile games set in the FINAL FANTASY VII world. Both of these games introduce new story elements surrounding the founding of SOLDIER (the elite super soldier group Cloud Strife came from), and are canon to the Final Fantasy VII universe. Let’s mosey!
FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER
First is FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER, coming later this year. Set before your favorite shadowy corporation Shinra established their elite SOLDIER unit, you’ll battle it out through the city of Midgar in a competitive, online battle-royale game.
You’ll play as a SOLDIER candidate as the organization is being founded. It’s exactly as it sounds: a multiplayer game you can jump into by yourself, or with your SOLDIER friends.
FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS
Second, FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS is coming in 2022. This is a chapter-structured single player experience that covers the whole of the FFVII timeline, including the events of the original game.
It also features new story elements penned by FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE Story and Scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, surrounding the founding of SOLDIER. Your guess is as good as ours for guest appearances, but we were IN at the mere mention of Kazushige Nojima.
Both mobile games, FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER and FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS, will be available on iOS and Android as free-to-play experiences with optional in-game purchases. Follow us @SquareEnix or @FinalFantasyVII for more info coming down the line.
