A closer look at the Wallace & Gromit Special Pack for PowerWash Simulator
Cracking news Gromit! The new Special Pack based on the world of the beloved Aardman Animation is out today! Here’s what you’ll be cleaning.
PowerWash Simulator fans: are you ready for a grand day out?
The Wallace & Gromit Special Pack is now available to download! This paid DLC adds multiple levels based on the world of Aardman’s beloved duo.
You’ll take control of Wallace’s latest invention - the all-singing, all-dancing WASH LAD, and spray your way round Wallace and Gromit’s gadget-filled home, prepare for a picnic on the moon and much more!
Naturally, the game features a cracking story that was created in close collaboration with Aardman itself.
FuturLab’s Mark Ginbey, the writer for the PowerWash Simulator, explains: “Incredibly, we were helped by Aardman's amazing writer Finbar Hawkins to finesse the script and give authenticity to our ideas.”
Take a look at the trailer for a tantalizing taste of the cheesy fun ahead:
What are you cleaning in the Wallace & Gromit Special Pack?
So, what exactly are the new jobs included, and what’s the story of this Special Pack? The key, for the creative team, was WASH LAD.
Ginbey says:
“We knew we were going to be creating a new player avatar for the pack, the WASH LAD, Wallace's latest invention for all domestic cleaning requirements, so this helped to ground the story elements and integrate them into Wallace & Gromit's lives.”
Wallace and Gromit’s Dining Room and Kitchen
Clean not just one, but two charmingly cluttered rooms, all absolutely caked in muck from floor to ceiling. Even the inside of the fridge needs attention!
This level features some awesome interactable animations, including a fully operational model train set!
Wallace & Gromit’s House
62 West Wallaby Street has been doused in dirt following an invention malfunction. It’s up to you and WASH LAD to restore the house to its ever-so-humble former glory.
The Knit-O-Matic
If you think it takes a lot of work to bathe and shear a sheep, you should try cleaning the machine that does it. In this job, you’ll take a crack at cleaning some of Wallace’s cracking contraptions, as well as the basement that houses them.
As for why everything is so messed up, Ginbey says:
“We thought we could rope in a few of their other inventions to help with the carnage - they do have a habit of going wrong. So, the Knit-O-Matic is involved with the mucking up the basement, and the Soccamatic and Shopper 13 play their roles in the front of their house becoming inordinately mucky.”
Wallace and Gromit’s Vehicles
Once you’re done with the house, the vehicles also need a hose down. Don’t worry about cleaning the wrong trousers, everything needs a look!
The Moon Rocket
A far cry from suburban England, the Moon Rocket level takes to the cheesy stars. You’ll restore the rocket to pristine condition inside and out, as well as a picnic area with a cracking view. Do a good job and make some cheddar!
The Wallace & Gromit Special Pack is available to buy for PowerWash Simulator now on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam.
If you’re yet to experience the meditative joys of this super-satisfying soaker, a free demo is also available now. It lets you play through more than two levels and experience the endlessly rewarding feeling of bringing sparkling order to grubby chaos.
If you like what you play - and you may be surprised by how much you do - the full game includes hours of foamy fun, including a lengthy story campaign, optional jobs and both free and paid DLC to keep the fun going even longer.
