There’s nothing quite as satisfying as setting down with a good book - and there are some rather marvelous ones on the way this year.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Penguin Random House Publisher Services to release a new line of Japanese manga, novels and art books in English worldwide.

Square Enix has been a prolific book publisher in Japan for many years now, but this is the first time we’ve brought many of these titles to English-speaking readers directly. So it’s all rather exciting.

The first wave of books in the new imprint will start to release in the latter half of 2019 - here’s a little glimpse at some of the titles you’ll be able to pour over:

  • FINAL FANTASY XV: The Dawn of the Future - First released in Japan in April, this novel takes readers back to Eos for a new chapter in the FINAL FANTASY XV mythos. Featuring beloved characters, including Noctis Lucis Caelum (still hanging around in FINAL FANTASY XIV by the way), Lunafeya and Ardyn Izunia, it provides new insight into the characters, and the world of FINAL FANTASY XV as a whole.

  • Hi Score Girl - You may have seen the hit anime on Netflix, but you’ll soon be able to read the excellent manga it’s based on. Rensuke Oshikiri’s series focuses on gamer Haruo Yaguchi and the changing arcade scene in Japan - charming, funny and romantic, it’s definitely worth a look.

  • A Man and His Cat - called Oji-sama to Neko in Japan, this emotional manga focuses on a lonely cat, who is adopted by an elderly owner. The heart-warming tale hit a chord with audiences - it was the best-selling new manga in Japan during the first half of 2018.

  • SOUL EATER - this manga series was a global mega-hit, spawning games, anime and more. You’ll be able to read the complete edition when it launches late this year.

That’s just a sample of some of the excellent titles coming in 2019 from Square Enix and Penguin Random House Publisher Services. Which are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments and on social media:

Really looking forward to Dawn of the Future! Sad to see how FFXV was treated as a whole but it remains as a top 5 for me. Hope to see more XV content.

Please publishing Kingdom Hearts manga/novels! I know there's been several already from Yen Press, but to come from Square Enix would mean they're straight from the source!
